Bryan Welker comes to the Baltimore School for Drumming from West Virginia where he received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree from West Virginia University. He is privileged to have studied with George Willis of the PSO and Al Wrublesky of the Civic Light Opera of Pittsburgh and to have performed under the direction of noted composers David Maslanka and Sam Hazo. Bryan has performed as principal percussionist for the WVU wind symphony and as a member of multiple chamber and world music ensembles including Taiko, steel band, samba drumming, and gamelan orchestra. In addition to these experiences, Bryan was also section leader of the WVU drum line and member of Drum Corps International in 2002 as center snare for the late Lehigh Valley Knights of Allentown, PA. In 2005, Bryan traveled to Europe to perform as the percussionist for the West Virginia University Alumni Band directed by Don Wilcox.

During his time in WV, Bryan served as director of percussion for the University High School Music Department developing and instructing award winning ensembles of both marching and orchestral percussion idioms. In 2008, Bryan moved to Baltimore to be with his wife Becky and was hired by Baltimore County Public Schools as the Instrumental Music Director for Lansdowne and Johnnycake Elementary Schools. Bryan is an active adjudicator and clinician for Baltimore County Public Schools and composes/arranges music for schools along the East Coast.
